Hansal Mehta, National Award-winning filmmaker has officially kicked-off production on “Scam 2010”: The Subrata Roy Saga, marking the highly anticipated third installment in the critically acclaimed franchise on Sony LIV. Produced by Applause Entertainment alongside Birla Studios, the upcoming series has cast actor Siddharth Bodke in the central role to portray the late Sahara Group founder, Subrata Roy.
Based on journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s detailed investigative book,
Sahara: The Untold Story, the project moved into active production after Sony Pictures Networks India successfully cleared early legal hurdles regarding ongoing regulatory disputes with SEBI.The narrative explores how one of India’s largest conglomerates was built entirely on public belief, tracking Roy’s meteoric dust-to-diamonds journey through modest chit-fund savings schemes into a massive financial empire before facing severe public, legal, and financial scrutiny.
According to the makers, the biographical crime drama will capture an era of immense power, intense ambition, and arrogant invincibility, offering a deeply layered exploration of a colossal empire’s eventual downfall.
