Actress Zaheera holds a rare and fascinating distinction in the history of Indian cinema by entering the film industry through the world of James Bond. She made her official acting debut as Zara in the 1969 film ” On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. This high-profile international exposure allowed her to bring an unmistakably global flavour and modern sensibility to Hindi cinema when she transitioned to Bollywood in the early 1970s.
Once in India, Zaheera quickly established herself through a series of notable performances. She featured alongside legend Dev Anand in the hit film “The Gambler’ and took on bold titular roles in projects like “Call Girl” and shared the screen with Feroz Khan in the massive thriller “Dharmatma”. Her versatile talent also led her to collaborate with superstar Rajesh Khanna and celebrated director Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the 1978 drama
“Naukri”. Despite her unique on-screen charisma and rapid rise, Zaheera chose to quietly step away from the limelight at the end of the decade, leaving behind a brief but memorable cinematic legacy.
