Academy Award-winning music maestro A.R. Rahman has composed an exclusive original track for the upcoming Netflix film ‘Best of the Best’, premiering globally on September 18, 2026. The Lena Khan directorial co-written and produced by Hasan Minhaj alongside Prashanth Venkataramanujam under 186K Films, the Bollywood-style coming-of-age musical comedy follows two childhood friends navigating rivalries and competitive college dance teams at UCLA.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Minhaj shared that securing Rahman’s iconic artistry was a pivotal milestone for the film’s cultural footprint. He noted It’s important to add to culture,” Minhaj noted, emphasizing how having a legendary composer of Rahman’s stature elevates the project into the broader tradition of American musicals.
