India drives its own destiny: Jaishankar rebuts U.S. ‘China ‘Mistake’ warning

At the Raisina Dialogue 2026,
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar offered contrasting views on economic partnership and national autonomy, as detailed in recent coverage of India’s Rise and India-US Relations.

Christopher Landau stressed that Washington aims to safeguard American commercial interests and will avoid repeating past economic approaches experienced with China two decades ago.
Jaishankar stated that India’s trajectory relies strictly on domestic capability and national strength rather than external actions or missteps.
India maintains that its national growth stems from internal policy, industry, and economic development.

Both nations continue active cooperation in defense and trade while protecting separate economic priorities.
