Grand New Look proposed for 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival

The 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from December 17 to 23, 2026, is preparing for a monumental shift in its traditional format. Festival chief advisor Mithun Chakraborty announced that plans are underway to hold the grand red-carpet opening ceremony at the iconic Victoria Memorial, marking a departure from previous indoor venues like the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

The proposed shift aims to align with a broader initiative to give the city a festive makeover by beautifying prominent landmarks.
Adding significant star power to the upcoming edition, South Indian superstars Rajinikanth and Prabhas are highly anticipated to attend the inaugural ceremony. The festival organizers are also in advanced discussions with several other notable Indian cinematic personalities, including Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, and Kangana Ranaut, alongside efforts to secure a Hollywood presence.

Alongside these high-profile invitations, the executive committee has unveiled major aesthetic updates for this edition, including a brand-new festival trophy and a redesigned logo conceptualized by acclaimed filmmaker Sandip Ray.
