The Ayyappa Temple in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon (West) is one of the most popular and revered Ayyappa Temples in India. Scores of devotees visit the temple every day and on all festive days the Temple sees a sea of humanity visiting for Darshan.

Whereas the Trust was registered in 1966, the Temple was thrown open to the devotees in the year 1983.

The Temple has been designed on the standards of the original Sabarimala Temple in Kerala. The Bangur Nagar Temple was consecrated by the then Thanthri (Chief Priest) of Shabarimala, H.H. Late Br. Sh. Maheshwararu Kantararu Thanthri and the current Thanthri of Sabarimala is the Thanthri here as well. The Temple follows all the rituals as in Sabarimala and witnesses maximum footfalls throughout the year. Apart from the South Indian community, Devotees from all over India visit the Temple. Apart from providing religious succour, the Temple provides free food, medical help and educational sustenance to all sections of the society irrespective of religion caste or creed.

The number of people coming to the Temple to avail of these facilities is many. The Temple has attracted and continues to attract celebrities and film stars on a regular basis.

The Mumbai Metro 2A line operating between Dahisar-D.N Nagar and line 7 between Dahisar Andheri East (Gundavalli) was flagged off by our Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 19 January 2023. It has enhanced the travel convenience and comfort of the commuters travelling to western suburbs and even those coming from far off the Virar- Vasai-Bhayander-Mira Road belt too. As such many Devotees from these areas will take the help of Metro to visit the Temple.

Currently the Metro Station at the junction of Bangur Nagar has been named as Pahadi Goregaon.

Looking at the popularity of this hugely popular Temple and for the convenience of the lakhs of Ayyappa Devotees, the MMRDA will be doing a very noble service if the station is named as Ayyappa Temple Marg or Ayyappa Temple Station.

Sincerely requesting MMRDA to do the needful.
