THE VERY SEVERE CYCLONIC STORM “TAUKTAE” INTENSIFIED INTO AN EXTREMELY SEVERE CYCLONIC STORM, 17TH MAY, 2021 OVER EAST CENTRAL ARABIAN SEA ABOUT 160KM WEST-SOUTHWEST OF MUMBAI(43003), 350KM SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF VERAVAL (42909), 310 KM SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF DIU (42914) AND 840 KM SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF KARACHI (41780). IT IS VERY LIKELY TO MOVE NORTH-NORTHWESTWARDS AND REACH GUJARAT COAST DURING 1200-1500 UTC OF 17th& CROSS GUJARAT COAST BETWEEN PORBANDAR (42830) & MAHUVA (BHAVNAGAR DISTRICT 42838) AROUND 1500-1800UTC of 17thMAYAS A VERY SEVERE CYCLONIC STORM WITH A MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WIND SPEED OF 155-165 KMPH GUSTING TO 185 KMPH.

PRAMOD CHAVAN FROM SINDHUDURG SAID, “
all sea shores and the houses are destroyed. All the big trees fell on the houses. Everything finished in Sindhudurg. But media is bias. They don’t want to grow us over Goa…where liquor, girls, and one very old dead body are available and we have more than 100 tourist attractions.

KONKAN HAS BEEN BADLY AFFECTED BY THIS STORM, EVERYWHERE FROM RAIGAD, RATNAGIRI, SINDHUDURG, PALGHAR HAS BORN THE BRUNT OF THE CYCLONE, IT WILL WEAKEN AS IT ENTERS GUJARAT. MUMBAI, NAVI MUMBAI AND THANE REGION SAY HUGE WINDS AND HEAVY RAINS. PROBLEMS OF TREES FALLING ON HOUSES WERE WITNESSED IN SOUTH MUMBAI TOO.
