Traffic police closed four major subways in Western Suburb, vehicles stuck amid heavy rain due to water logging, many abandoned

 Heavy rainfall led to water logging at many places in the city including the well known Sion circle, Hindmata junction in Dadar, etc due to which many vehicles were seen getting stuck in the water and most of the motorists abandoned their vehicles, an police official said.

City traffic police have closed four major subways in Western Suburb of the city like Milan Subway, Khar Subway, Andheri and Malad Subway for motorists due to water logging at these places after doing proper barricading.

Senior Traffic Police official said” We have closed these Subways due to water logging of around two feet at these junctions, traffic is smooth at SV Road, Linking road as well at Western Express highway too and no traffic congestion report were reported till now.

During such times, due to low visibility the chances for accidents are increased, hence our officials are on the roads to tackle any challenge, if people abandoned their vehicles on the road due to water-logging we called cranes to clear the road which is our first priority.”

On the first day of monsoon it is seen that most of the people are staying at home and did not come out, due to which vehicles are seen less on the road as compared to other days.

According to police official, at many places motorists, especially two wheel riders, face problems moving ahead after their bikes were stuck due to waterlogging. While at many places it was seen that local people were helping motorists to pull their vehicles out from the water.

Meanwhile, city police had at their Twitter account urged Mumbaikars to do not come out without any work, they mentioned plan travel likewise at Netaji Palkar Chowk, SV Road Behrambaug Junction, Sakkar Pachayat Chowk, Neelam Junction, Govandi, Hidamata Junction, Iqbal Kamani Junction, Dharavi Restaurant, Dharavi, Sion Junction, King Circle
