Nitin Gadkari – Minister for Road, Transport & Highways, addressing the BRICS Network University session, said there is a “Need for diversification of Agriculture towards Energy /Power sectors”. The E-100 initiative launched by PM Modi needs to be seriously implemented.
Mr. Gadkari said that we have surplus production of Wheat, Rice, Sugar, Corn etc. We have the highest MSP compared to International and Domestic markets. We spend around 8 lakh crore on crude oil which is going to double in the next 2-3 years. Need to diversify agriculture to Power and Energy sectors.
 
Bio Ethanol costs Rs 62 per litre compared to Rs 102 petrol per litre. The caloric value 750 ml of Ethanol is equal to 1 litre of petrol. Even then we save Rs 20 per litre. The flex engine used in Brazil is used in Brazil. USA and Canada successfully. Racing cars use Ethanol successfully.
 
Globally transportation cause 23 % of carbon emission. In India it is around 18 %. Focus on Electric vehicles. Plan to make India the Electric Vehicles manufacturing hub. Amazon has recently purchased 10,000 electric delivery vehicles as per our initiative.
We are concentrating on a clean/green/sustainable growth model. We are committed to global initiative to reduce carbon emission by 35% by 2030. As a govt initiative we will asking Govt officers to use Electric cars.
