Dadar Station to get Restaurant on Wheels
Following its popularity atChhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Restaurant on Wheels rail coach will soon arrive in Dadar station to cater to the Diners.
Currently operational at Nagpur, besides CSMT, the modified coach mounted on rails is a fine-dining eatery that offers a unique experience and has the capacity to accommodate more than 40 people at a time. The restaurant has been has the decor rail-themed setting.
Notably, Central Railway intends to float the Restaurant in other locations as well apart Dadar such as Akudi, Chinchwad, Miraj and Baramati and at seven in and around the city at Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kalyan, Lonavala, Neral, Igatpuri, and Matheran
Reportedly, the Restaurants on Wheels at CSMT and Nagpur stations were opened under the Non-Fare Revenue Scheme and have emerged as landmark eating houses, seeing approximately 1,25,000 and 1,50,000 visitors respectively from their opening to date. The Restaurant on Wheels theme is a superb example of a passenger-friendly initiative combined with a novel revenue-generation idea.
The rates of dishes and the menu are decided by the licensee as per market rates approved by railways. North, South, continental and other types of cuisine are served at the eateries, which are open to passengers as well as the general public.
