But thanks to Salim-Javed who introduced Amitabh to veteran Producer-Director who was looking for an actor to play a police inspector in Zanjeer
Zanjeer emerged as a blockbuster and after this Amitabh never looked back. Then followed Prakash Mehrs’s other directorial – Sharaabi, Namak Halaal, Khoon Pasina, Hera Pheri, Lawaaris, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Prakash Mehra tagged him as ‘Angry Young Man’
Thereafter another Filmmaker Manmohan Desai famous for lost and found stories gave a break to Amitabh in his
Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish, Suhaag, Naseeb, Desh Premee, Coolie, Mard.
But one filmmaker who cashed on the ‘Angry Young Man was
Yash Chopra in his ‘Deewaar’. The script was literally written for him. He repeated him in his romantic film Silsila.
Thereafter it was history. Amitabh became the most sought after actor. Infact he worked with all the ‘A’ Grade filmmakers.
It was only Prakash Mehra and Manmohan Desai who were responsible for Amitabh Bachchan’s successful journey in Bollywood.
