the IFFI Jury Nadav lapid termed the film ‘Kashmir files’ as vulgar, ‘ a propaganda film’.
The film Kashmir Files emerged as a debatable issue at the recently concluded IFFI 2022 in Goa when the IFFI Jury Nadav lapid termed the film as vulgar’, ‘propaganda film’.
This did not go down well with the director of the film Vivek Agnihotri who resorted to a sharp indirect dig at Nadav.
Even veteran actor Anupam Kher who hails from Kashmir strongly reacted and condemned Nadav’s remarks.
Actors Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumaar also slammed Lapid’s remarks
Taking to his twitter handle Vivek Agnihotri wrote.
Truth is the most dangerous thing. It can make people lie. CreativeConsciousness. Lapid had called ‘The Kashmir Files’ a “propaganda, vulgar film”, adding that he was “shocked” to see the film in the competition section of such a prestigious film festival. A video from the festival went viral in which Lapid is seen criticising the film.
The filmmaker added Nadav’s remarks disturbed and shocked everyone. It felt like a propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival. He felt totally comfortable in openly sharing these feelings here with at this stage. In the spirit of this festival, it can surely also be accepted as a critical discussion, essential for art and life,” he signed off amid the closing ceremony of the prestigious film festival.
Lapid’s remarks also did not go down well with many actors apart Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumaar, who played key roles in ‘The Kashmir Files’
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Vice President Abhinav Prakash were among the people who strongly condemned the controversial comments of Nadav Lapid.
