Mumbai CP deploys 25000 DCPs 1200 Police Force amid 31st Night revellery
Ahead of 31st December revellery, Mumbai Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar in an exclusive interview to a News Channel makes it known of the elaborate police bandobast on 31st night eve of New Year 2023.
When asked that after two years pandemic restrictions what bandobast has been made by the Mumbai Police, the Commissioner aptly makes it known that 31st night is being celebrated all over the country and particularly in Mumbai there is an expectation of revellers in large numbers at crowded places. He also pointed out that Coronavirus in the city has not fully abated and keeping in mind that some people with the virus symptoms may throng the crowded places we have made arrangements to tackle such cases.
in a bid to ensure safety heavy police bandobast has been deployed at sensitive points like Gate of India, Nariman Point Girgaum Chowpatty Juhu Chowpatty and other sensitive points where the revellers will congregate to ring in the New Year 2023.
We have deployed 25 DCPs, 1,500 officers,10,000 Constables apart SRPF team, 3 squads of Riot Control Police and 15 squads of Quick Response Team across the city to avert any untoward incidents.
We also have set up more than a hundred checkpoints and deployed more than 11,000 security personnel. They are taking a lot of efforts to ensure the New Year is safe and hassle-free.
On drunken driving amid the New Year eve, the Commissioner said this has also been viewed and bandobast has been made to deal with such people.
The Police Team is taking precautionary steps to lower the danger of drunk driving and the accidents caused by it. Many drivers avoid checkpoints in hopes of not getting caught. However, this time they have decided of moving checkpoints. This will ensure that drunk drivers couldn’t dodge the police and get into accidents.
On Eve-teasers who may take advantage of the situation, the Commissioner pointed out this has also been kept in mind and will be dealt with accordingly.
He also said yesterday 1400 anti-social elements were booked and the deployed police personnel will deal with such people.
