Coolie No.1 Govinda Karisma comedy ‘clocks 28 years of release
The David Dhawan directorial and Vashu Bhagnani produced Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s iconic comedy-romance film ‘Coolie No. 1’ clocked 28 glorious years on Friday.
The couple of Raju Coolie and Malti Choudhary emerged as one the nation’s most beloved pairs with their impeccable comic timing and captivating screen presence.
When released, the film turned out to be a rage amongst audiences for its songs, cast and storyline.
To mark the special occasion, and taking a trip down memory lane, producer Vashu Bhagnani revealed that “‘Coolie No 1′ will always be his most special film as he began his film journey with it.
The film also marked the beginning of Vashu Bhagnani’s production house and the collaboration with the trio – David Dhawan Govinda and Karishma Kapoor.
Going nostalgic on his association with David Dhawan, Vashu Bhagnani added that they together have made some unforgettable films and he cherishes the happy memories. He looks upon David as his elde8r brother and confidante throughout his film career even till today. He terms Coolie No 1’ is one of their most loved films.

Also marked with stellar performances by supporting the cast of Kader Khan and Shakti Kapoor, ‘Coolie No.1′ till date enjoys a massive fan base, with one of its highlights being the chartbuster song “Husn Hai Suhana”which remains one of the most sought after dance numbers today even after almost three decades of its release.
With more iconic songs like Mein Toh Raste se Ja Raha Tha’ and the romantic song, Aa Jana’ which showed Chichi and Lolo’s great chemistry and dancing skills, ‘Coolie No 1’ is well worth the watch even today.
