Anand Mahindra acclaims IndiGo for honouring Kargil war hero with in-flight tribute.
As part of his gesture billionaire industrialist Anand Mahindra heaped praises on IndiGo airlines for acclaiming Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, a Kargil War hero, onboard a flight to Pune.
Amidst realising Kumar was on board the airline, IndiGo presented him with a small gift in appreciation of his service to the nation.
Ahead of Kargil Divas on Wednesday, 26 July, the airline took the opportunity to felicitate Kumar’s exceptional bravery as they welcomed him onboard. They shared a heartwarming message and an inspiring introduction over his services towards the nation.
On Sunday, the airline shared a video on Twitter, in which the flight’s captain was seen announcing, “Today, we have a very special person with us…we have Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar ji, a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.” This prompted a burst of applause throughout the cabin.
With the video, Indigo tweeted, “Flying with a hero: Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar ji, a Living Param Veer Chakra awardee!”
Mahindra, acknowledged for his social media quips, retweeted the video to show his respect towards the war hero.
He wrote, “When you see the video, you’ll acknowledge that I don’t need to explain why Subedar Sanjay Kumar is my Monday motivation. I pray that I may acquire even a fraction of his extraordinary courage. Bravo, IndiGo. Keep honouring our Bravehearts…”
