IMD predicts moderate rains in coming days for Mumbai

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts following over a weeks heavy showers flooding Mumbai and its neighbouring districts, Mumbaikars can now expect light to moderate downpour over the next few days.

In its five day forecast, the weather bureau has sounded no alarm for the city until August 1, following which the IMD has issued a yellow alert for August 2, indicating pickup of the intensity by mid-week. In the neighbouring districts of Raigad and Ratnagiri, meanwhile, a yellow alert remains in place.

However, tbe Meteorologists and weather experts attribute the receding intensity of downpour in the city to the movement of the low pressure area, which had brought the continuous heavy showers to the city.

As per Mahesh Palawat, Skymet Weather Services Meteorologist
as the low pressure area weakens and moves in the north-west direction, the impact of the monsoon spell will become less in the city.
