Sunny Deol opens up on nepotism, admits he wouldn’t have been an actor without Dharmendra
Sunny Deol, shared his thoughts on nepotism debate ahead of Gadar 2 release. The actor stressed that his father Dharmendra played a role in facilitating his career. However, he added that nepotism wasn’t the driving factor, dismissing it as a narrative propagated by frustrated individuals.
In an interaction with the media when he was asked had Dharam ji not been an actor, where he would be today?” Sunny shot back , he doesn’t know, but herever his father would be working, maybe he too would join him.
The actor agreed that he was an actor because of Dharmendra, and said that since his father is such a huge star, he got the platform and opportunity of becoming an actor. He said, “One has to understand that in a family, the child follows and imitates what his father does. The hate and nepotism is being spread by those people who are frustrated. What’s wrong if a father wants to do something for his son or daughter? If not his family, then who is the father working for?”
Sunny added, that the success eventually will depend on the individual person. His father could not get into him to make him an actor. He couldn’t get into his sons to make them an actor… Papa is such a big icon and he gave him a recognition in the industry and he is here.
He admits he cant be compared to his dad they are very similar and ofcourse there were difficulties, but he never thought of them as difficulties.
