Amitabh Bachchan’s Dress Designer Akbar gave Original steel outfit of Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Shahenshah’ to Jeetendra
The Tinu Anand directorial Shahenshah, was released in 1988 and featured Amitabh Bachchan. As of date, the film remains iconic for its dialogues and, notedly, Amitabh’s steel arm, a pivotal element of the film’s costume.
Now, it is learnt fromTinnu Anand that the steel outfit wasn’t the original choice. He reveals that his first design was taken by a designer and given to Jeetendra because the movie production had stopped.
But later, they got a different
designer to make a new costume for Amitabh, which was liked by him.
Over a interview with an electronic media, Tinnu reveals that he had personally designed the costume and with the help of Amitabh’s designer, came up with a black leather outfit – black pants, black shoes, and black boots. He had even added a rope around his shoulder, though that idea was later dropped. Then, he disclosed that Akbar, celebrity fashion designer and Amitabh’s designer cheated on him by giving that costume to Jeetendra. Jeetendra is said to have used that costume in the film Aag Aur Shola featuring Sridevi.
Tinnu further added that when Amitabh returned, he asked, him about the costume.
Tinnu explained to Amitabh that the designer had given the costume to Jeetendra and saying that he will never work with Akbar in future to which Amitabh said, ‘Okay, but then where will he go? to which Tinnu replied ‘Kishore Bajaj.’
