India to be renamed Bharat in special session of Parliament on September 18
Congress claims that the masthead of G20 dinner invite sent by the office of the President chronicled Droupadi Murmu as the “President of Bharat”, instead “President of India”. The special session in Parliament will kick-off on September 18.
If the change in name gets the go ahead signal, India will not be the first country to do so as
PM Modi is likely to move a resolution renaming India as ‘Bharat’ at the five-day special session in Parliament.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted
“REPUBLIC OF BHARAT – happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards “AMRIT KAAL”.
Reportedly, “Article 1 in the Constitution can read: ‘Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States’,” the party’s General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted. “But now even this ‘Union of States’ is under assault.”
Meanwhile, top BJP leader
JP Nadda asked over the use of the name Bharat, why does the Congress party have “so much objection to every subject related to the honor and pride of the country?
