Looking back: Madhuri Dixit refused a film with Amitabh Bachchan over bra shoot scene

There are many actresses who are willing to do bold scenes and even go to the extent to compromise for a break in a film or agree for revealing scenes.

But it wasn’t in the case of Madhuri Dixit. For a film titled “Shanakht”, actor-Director Tinnu Anand wanted Madhuri Dixit to shoot in a bra. But, Madhuri refused which led to a spat between her and Tinnu Anand. Madhuri gave up the film that featured today’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Veteran actor Tinnu Anand has contributed to the rich legacy of Bollywood by directing and producing movies like Major Saab, Shahenshah, and Kaalia, among others.

Over an interaction with the media, In an interview,Tinnu Anand spoke about the movie that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit for the first time and said that the actress almost gave up on doing the film because the scene required her to shoot in a bra.

Madhuri Dixit Nene is an actor par excellence. With more than 70 films to her credit, she is one of the most sought-after stars in Bollywood. Her beauty, grace, confidence, and ability to put her foot down when needed have helped her create a niche for herself in the Indian film industry.

Adding further, the actor-director revealed that he had narrated the entire sequence to Madhuri and told her that she has to remove her blouse and for the first time, he wanted to see her in her bra. And he even told her that he is not going to hide anything behind a haystack or anything. Since she was offering herself to help a man trying to help her. So, it is a very important situation and he wanted to shoot it on the first day. She said okay.

Despite having agreed to do it, the actress denied doing the scene. She didn’t get out of her dressing room for almost an hour. When Tinnu went to check out the reason for the delay and asked her what was going on, the actress told him that she isn’t willing don’t to do this particular scene to whichTinnu replied, sorry, she has to do this scene, but, Madhuri didn’t budge. He then told her to pack up and say goodbye to the film.

When Amitabh Bachchan arrived, Tinnu informed him about his argument with Madhuri. Being the peacemaker between them, Amitabh tried to resolve the issue, but in vain.
He said, Let it be. Why are you arguing with her? If she has an objection…’ to which Tinnu told Amitabh that if she had to object, she should have done it earlier, before signing the film.’

But even as Madhuri later agreed to do the scene, the film was shelved after five days shoot.
