PM Modi opens G20 Summit nameplate transmits
‘Bharat’ message
PM Modi finally opened the doors of the Bharat Mandapam to the much raved about and much-anticipated G20 Summit.
In a strongly worded message amid the Bharat vs India row, the name plate in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi read “Bharat”.
Infact, the decision to transform India to Bharat in President Droupadi Murmu’s invitation to world leaders sparked a huge political row.
It also triggered conjecture that the special session of Parliament to be held later this month is geared toward
formalising this push to transform India as Bharat.
“Bharat” has also been used in a G20 booklet meant for foreign delegates titled – “Bharat,
The Mother Of Democracy”.
The booklet says “Bharat is the official name of the country and is quoted in the Constitution as also in the discussions of 1946-48.
Sadly, the opposition has launched an open assault on the centre over the issue. Members of the INDIA bloc allege that the PM Narendra Modi government is “distorting history and dividing India”.
BJP Leaders in a sharp counter attack, accuses the opposition of being anti-national and anti-constitutional. They have pointed to the Article 1 of the Constitution.
As per Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan the determination to use ‘Bharat’ is a big statement against the colonial mindset and that this should have happened earlier.
It gives him immense satisfaction. ‘Bharat’ is our introduction and are proud of it.
