Nayanthara starrer ‘Annapoorani’ removed from Netflix- film lands in legal trouble
Reportedly, Nayanthara starrer ‘Annapoorani’ has been removed from Netflix after film gets embroiled in legal hassles.
Few days ago, an FIR was filed against the film for hurting religious sentiments.
The film is directed by Nilesh Krishnaa.
Netflix had no option but to remove the film from its platform amid allegations by Hindu groups that it’s an “anti-Hindu” film.
The film released in theatres on December 1 and started streaming on Netflix from December 29. A week after it was available on the OTT, it has been at the receiving end of criticism.
In his complaint, Ramesh Solanki, founder of the Hindu IT cell, has claimed that the film is ‘offending Hindu religious sentiments.
The complaint was filed against actors Nayanthara, Jai, writer-director Nilesh Krishna, producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, and Punit Goenka, Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel, and the head of Netflix India, Monika Shergill.
