Veteran playback singer Suresh Wadkar honoured with the Gansamragini Lata Mangeshkar Award.
Veteran playback singer Suresh Wadkar was honoured with the Gansamragini Lata Mangeshkar Award for his contribution towards Music in Hindi Cinema.
At an event Wadkar was felicitated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented with special mementoes.
In 2021, he Wadkar was honoured with Padma Shri, fourth-highest civilian award in India.
Wadkar after the honour said that it feels really special as It’s a big thing for him and he is extremely happy. He has been waiting for a long time to get this award and now that he has finally got it.
Wadkar is recognised for his playback singing in Hindi and Marathi industries and has been enthralling audiences for over 45 years now.
He has also carved a niche for himself in devotional music. Songs such as Sapne Mein Milti Hai, Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai and Lagi Aaj Saawan Ki are some of his popular tracks.
His earlier hit numbers has been Sona Kare Jhilmil Jhilmil (film Paheli), Seene Me Jalan (Gaman), which reportedly caught late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s attention and she recommended him to other top music composers of the day.
On coming a long way in his journey, Wadkar said, he feels blessed on getting opportunities to work with big filmmakers in the industry.
There’s no bigger accomplishment than people’s love. Luckily, he has been able to achieve that through his work. It’s every artist’s dream to receive this award. He started singing at the age of four and till now have sung 30,000 to 40,000 songs.
