Mumbaikars on Wednesday woke up to experience 1st pre-monsoon shower

Mumbaikars got respite from the sweltering heat as on Wednesday, the first pre-monsoon showers hit the city bringing relief. Parts of the Dadar, Kandivali, Ghatkopar saw 4-26 mm rain.

Notedly, Skymet forecasts timely onset of monsoon for Mumbai.

Acording to a civic official, neighborhoods such as Dadar, Kandivali, Magathane, Oshiwara, Wadala, and Ghatkopar received rainfall ranging from 4 mm to 26 mm between 7 am and 8 am. In addition to this, light rain was also observed in certain parts of central and south Mumbai.

Skymet in its forecast on June said that the monsoon is expected to advance over the Konkan region and make a timely onset in Mumbai. The city is likely to experience light to moderate pre-monsoon showers over the next 3-4 days.

Coming back to today’s showers, citing officials, news agency reported that road traffic and trains services were running normal in the city despite the shower.

Some Mumbaikars posted videos and photos as showers bring respite to heat with some videos showing waterlogging, traffic jam in several areas.

IMD has forecast partly cloudy sky in city and suburbs with maximum and minimum temperatures very likely to be around 36 degree Celsius and 29 degree Celsius respectively. Speaking of Maharashtra, IMD has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in the districts of South Konkan, Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada and at isolated places in the districts of North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra. The weather office has predicted moderate rain in these areas till 10 June.
