Looking back: When Priyanka Chopra was dubbed as ‘homebreaker’-forced to exit Bollywood

The grapevine has been suggesting for eons now that Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra came close while shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2’. That’s not all, Khan was one of the judges for the Miss India World pageant in 2000 where Priyanka Chopra was one of the contestants.

During a Q and A session with the judges, this is what SRK asked Chopra- “Hypothetically, if you were to marry one of the following, who would it be? An Indian sportsman, like Mohammad Azharuddin — who would take you all around the world, make your country proud and make you swell with pride.” This was the first time they met.

A video of the actor singing ‘Marry Me’ to the Quantico star from an event has gone viral on social media:

The ‘bond’ amid Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra headlined for quite a long time. media reports revealed that Priyanka was being cornered by star wives and dubbed as home-breaker. She was even
bypassed by A-listers like Karan Johar, while SRK remained silent.

As per reports, SRK and Priyanka Chopra came close while on shoot for Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2’.

In an interview in 2012, Shah Rukh eventually broke his silence and voiced over his bond with Priyanka and his reaction to the reports about her. The actor went on to apologise because Priyanka was not been given the respect that she deserved.

Adding that to him what much disturbed him was that a lady who worked with him has been questioned and somewhere down the line has not been shown the respect that he shows her, or to all women. He thinks it is disrespectful and feels extremely sorry about that, sorry means not because of the things that he had done but because she is a ‘friend’
that’s it

In an interaction with Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert, Chopra revealed, that she was pushed into a corner in the Bollywood and that she had people not casting her, she had beef with people, she is not good at playing that game so she kind of was tired of the politics and said she needed a break.

She went on to add that this music thing gave her an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies she never wanted to get but would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and she had worked a long time by then that she didn’t feel like she wanted to do it.

Priyanka made her debut in Bollywood 2003 released film Anil Sharma’s The Hero- Love Story Of A Spy. Later went on to be seen in films like Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Aitraaz, Waqt, Don, Krrish, Fashion, Dostana, Kaminey, Don 2, Agneepath, Bajirao Mastani, and The Sky Is Pink.
