The web shows and films have now turned out to be a paramount part of our lives. That’s precisely the very reason why major and small streaming giants are pumping in crores of money to make and promote shows extensively.

It is generic to see multiple releases across platforms almost every week. Ormax, through its half-yearly report, has given out details on which direct-to-OTT films managed to rule the roost.

According to their report, the Diljit Dosanjh-Parineeti Chopra starrer Amar Singh Chamkila Netflix film, helmed by Imtiaz Ali and based on one of the greatest Punjabi singers of all time, garnered 12.9 million views. The second spot was also taken by a Netflix movie, Murder Mubarak, with 12.2 million views.
The murder mystery featured Sara Ali Khan and her OTT release, Ae Watan Mere Watan, on Amazon Prime Video, amassed 11.5 million views.

Maharaj was released on Netflix with little promotions. Yet, the Yash Raj Films period drama managed to garner 10.6 million views. The controversy surrounding the film played a major role in making people curious about its content. It marked the debut of Aamir Khan’s Junaid Khan and also starred Sharvari and Shalini Pandey.

Patna Shukkla, featuring Raveena Tandon, came fifth. The Disney+ Hotstar film had a viewership of 9.8 million views.

In short, Netflix had 3 out of 5 films in the coveted list and if top 11 films are counted, then the streaming giant has 4 films in the list. Sharmajee Ki Beti is a surprise as it dropped in the last week of June.

Yet, the Amazon Prime Video film managed to garner7.6 million views. It came seventh and was below Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Bhakshak, released on Netflix, and received 9.8 million views.
