Singer Arijit Singh has emerged as much discerned musician surpassing Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran on Spotify.

The level-pegging competition amid Indian singer Arijit Singh and American singer Taylor Swift for the “Most followed artist on Spotify” title has been going on for some time. Fans of the artists were held in suspense by the ever-altering numbers, keeping victories brief and changing.

Now, it is learned that Arijit Singh has toppled Swift to emerge as the most-followed artist on the music-streaming platform. With a whopping 117.2 million followers, Arijit clinched the title from Swift with 21,000 more followers. When it comes to monthly listeners, however, Swift is way ahead of Singh.

As of now, Swift holds the second position with 117.18 million followers, followed by Britain’s Ed Sheeran with 115.01 million followers. Other artists in the list are Ariana Grande with 98 million followers and Billie Eilish with 96 million followers, occupying fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Arijit in August 2023, had a brief victory as he surpassed Swift. However, the Indian Singer bounced back quickly and hit the headlines when he became the first Indian music artist to cross 100 million followers on Spotify. Besides Ariji, A R Rahman, with 49 million followers, is the only other Indian artist in the Top 20.
