After their whirlwind romance for several years, actress Sonakshi Sinha wed her minority community beau Zaheer Iqbal on June 23 in a cherished ceremony in Mumbai.

Having wed her minority community beau Sonakshi Sinha feels elated that there was no objection Zaheer’s family to celebrate her first Ganesh Chaturthi. It appears that she took advantage of the opportunity to silence the trolls quizzing her for the inter-faith marriage. According to Sonakshi she and Zaheer Iqbal never had an issue over religion – Faith never came up in a discussion.

Ever since she shared pictures from her wedding, Sonakshi, 37, and Zaheer, 35, got a lot of hatred on social media for their inter-faith union. There was a point when she disabled comments on some of her posts.

On Sunday, taking to her Instagram she shared a video of how she celebrated the Ganesh festival with Zaheer She shared a video of herself along with Zaheer performing Ganesh aarti together at Arpita Khan Sharma’s grand Ganpati celebrations.

Sharing the video through a joint post, she wrote, “Love grows in respect when a couple honours each other’s beliefs in true harmony… Our first Ganpati after shaadi.”

For the outing, Sonakshi picked a teal blue flowy anarkali with silver zardozi and hand embroidery work done in a jaal design all over, while Zaheer was seen in a blue and white kurta.

One fan amid reacting to the video wrote “Wooowwww, happy Sona, happy Zooo, Happy Gannu, happy everyone! Love ittt,” Another fan mentioned, “This is what I like accepting and embracing each other’s religion and the rituals and ignore the world.”

Erstwhile, in an interview Sonakshi and Zaheer had revealed that their respective faiths have never been a part of any discussions or a debate.

Elaborating on each other’s cultures as a married couple, Sonakshi recalled that she thinks it will be beautiful and genuinely, aren’t that very different from each other and their core values remain the same. They have been thought by their parents to be good human beings and believe in God, irrespective of whatever name they know him by. But the most important thing in life is to be a good human being.

The couple later celebrated with a grand reception at Bastian. Interestingly, they met through Salman Khan, a close childhood friend of Zaheer’s father, Iqbal Ratansi. Salman also supported Zaheer’s debut film, Notebook, where he featured alongside Pranutan Bahl. Notedly, Sonakshi and Zaheer’s connection grew stronger after featuring together in the Huma Qureshi
co-produced film Double XL.
