Sajid Nadiadwala had tol encouraged me to not quit politics and become a film producer,” reveals Raj Thackeray at Yek Number trailer launch
In the midst of the event, Raj Thackeray shared an unknown trivia of a time when he had decided to quit politics and how Sajid Nadiadwala’s advice helped him. In the year 2000, when he (Raj Thackeray) was in a different party (Shiv Sena), he was fed up with all the political happenings in it and decided to put a reverse gear. He felt he shouldn’t continue with politics with a thought to slowly leave politics. He used to regularly meet Sajid Nadiadwala. and once decided to establish a film production company.
Thackeray continued, then one fine day, the reason he re-entered politics was due to Sajid Nadiadwala. He told him one thing, ‘Raj bhai, he (Sajid) is a producer, and knows how a producer has to work and what all he needs to do. He won’t be able to see Raj Thackeray do all that as a producer. You be where you are. Filmein toh banti rahegi.’ Then I again got involved in politics and things started happening.”
Thackeray shared how after all these years, he finally entered film production and teamed up with Nadiadwala Grandson for the movie. “Now, today after all these years, he (Raj Thackeray) established a production company. And while doing that, he met Tejaswini Pandit and Sajid Nadiadwala was always there. Some very good films are made in Marathi. But the way how films from other regional industries are coming up and making it big, it is important to make Marathi films of that level too. That’s how this film called Yek Number came about.”
“Yek Number” hits cinema houses on October 12.
