Mega blaze engulfs 15-storey in Dongri’s 22-storey tower-gas cylinder explodes
A mega blaze engulfed 15-storey of Dongri’s 22-storeyed Ansari Heights off Nishan Pada Road on Wednesday afternoon after a cooking gas cylinder exploded.
The officials from the fire brigade and civic body reached the spot and efforts to douse the blaze.
At least nine fire engines and other firefighting vehicles were engaged in the operation.
The people stranded on upper floors are being evacuated to terrace as a precautionary measure as the staircase is filled with smoke.
Firewoman Anjali Amol Jamdade attached with the Mumbai Fire Brigade’s Mandavi station, sustained injury to right shoulder while dousing the flames. Her condition is said to be stable. Nasir Muni Ansari suffered 15 per cet burned injuries. Samin Ansari has suffered 22 percent burns. The victims have been been admitted to Maharashtra government-run JJ Hospital in Byculla.
Earlier in the day a fire broke out on the 6th floor of the Chinchan building, located in Andheri West area.
The blaze erupted at 8.42 am in a flat on the sixth floor of the building and was doused by around 9 am, they said, adding no one was injured in the fire, whose cause was not yet known.
On November 15, a fire broke out in the basement of the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) underground metro station. It was confined to wooden sheets, furniture and construction material at a depth of 40-50 feet of the station located in Bandra East, causing heavy smoke in the area
