SRK emerges as biggest celebrity taxpayer in 2025
Shah Rukh Khan emerged as India’s top celebrity taxpayer in 2024. He surpassed other prominent figures like Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar, and Salman Khan. The superstar’s impressive tax contribution highlights his immense earnings and establishes his place as one of India’s highest-paid celebrities.
Shahrukh khan topped the list by paying Rs 92 crore in taxes, following a successful year with three major movie releases.
He was well in lead up of the competition, with Tamil star Vijay (Thalapathy) in second place, paying Rs 80 crore. Salman Khan paid Rs 75 crore, Amitabh Bachchan paid Rs 71 crore, and Virat Kohli paid Rs 66 crore.
The highest-ranking female celebrity on the list was Kareena Kapoor, who paid Rs 20 crore in taxes, just outside the top 10.
The year 2023-24 was a massive success for both Shah Rukh Khan and Vijay. Shah Rukh staged a grand comeback in January 2023 with Pathaan, which grossed over
Rs 1000 crore worldwide. He followed it up with Jawan, which did even better, earning Rs 1150 crore. Though his final release of the year, Dunki, wasn’t as huge, it still grossed over Rs 400 crore.
These earnings, along with profit shares, made Shah Rukh the highest-paid actor in India in nearly a decade.
Likewise, Vijay had a major hit with The Greatest of All Time, which grossed over
Rs 600 crore. Reports suggest the actor was paid more than Rs 200 crore for the film.
The portal also clarified that the tax figures were based on the advance tax payments made by these celebrities for the 2023-24 financial year.
