Throwback to: When Sridevi didn’t talk to Boney Kapoor for three months
Undoubtedly, Sridevi was often regarded as one of the greatest performers in Hindi cinema, and was acknowledged for her unwavering dedication to her craft.
Her commitment to her roles often extended beyond the professional realm, impacting her personal life as well.
In the midst of the trailer launch of her critically acclaimed 2017 film ‘Mom’, Sridevi opened up on an extraordinary instance of her devotion to her role. While on prep for the emotionally intense character of a vigilante mother, she avoided personal interactions with her husband, producer Boney Kapoor, for three months.
This was when Sridevi transitioned from South films to Hindi films in the late 1970s.
She revealed to the media once that she distanced from Boney Kapoor for three months and was not on talking terms as an husband. Nevertheless,she used to greet him good morning, and after pack-up, wished him goodnight. That was the only conversation she maintained with him. This very conscious decision, she noted, helped her stay in character throughout the filming process.
Elaborating on her working style, she dubbed herself as “a director’s actress” stating, she surrenders totally to the director and followed Ravi Udyawar’s vision, and he did a wonderful job.
Sridevi embarked on her acting career as a child artist in South Indian films and quickly rose to prominence, transitioning to Bollywood in the late 1970s. Her versatility allowed her to transition amid genres, from comedy and drama to action and romance, winning for her earning reputation as an unparalleled talent in Indian cinema.

In 1996, the couple tied the knot cementing their bond amid a whirlwind of media attention. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, in 1997, shortly after the release of Sridevi’s successful film Judaai. Their second daughter, Khushi Kapoor, was born in 2000.
