It’s an established fact that late legendary choreographer Saroj Khan was acknowledged for her perfection and making people groove to her beats.

However, Khan was known to be short-tempered, a fact well-known to those who worked with her. Not many may know that Saroj Khan and Sridevi once had a public fallout. It happened in 1990s when their rift became the talk of the town and even headlined. Following the news, several speculations began circulating.

The big quetion was why Saroj Khan and Sridevi had a fallout.

Saroj Khan, who choreographed Madhuri Dixit’s Dhak Dhak track garnered immense recognition for her ability to make dance steps memorable. Following the release of Madhuri’s hit song, a rift arose between Saroj Khan and Sridevi on the sets of Chaand Kaa Tukdaa. Reportedly, Sridevi was dissatisfied with Saroj’s choreography for her song in the film.

Recalling the incident, Saroj Khan shared that Sridevi not only expressed dissatisfaction but also compared the choreography of Madhuri’s Dhak Dhak to her own song in Chaand Kaa Tukdaa.

Saroj Khan emphatically claimed that this Madhuri became an actress by chance, became star with one film – worked with Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan.

Saroj Khan had watched the rushes of Madhuri’s Dhak Dhak, and she said she was not showing the same dedication towards her songs. She retorted, telling her that the music of Chaand Kaa Tukdaa was weak, and he couldn’t create great steps for it. She told her, that since she no longer had faith in her, she wouldn’t work with her for a whole year. That’s where they both parted ways for a while,” Saroj Khan revealed in the book Sridevi: The Eternal Goddess.

However, Sridevi presented a completely different perspective. In an interview, the late actress stated that the rift originated from the director, Saawan Kumar, stepping down from working with Saroj Khan on the project.
“Her grouse was against Saawan-ji. I wonder why she took it all out on her” Sridevi said. She further added, “If she says that she (Madhuri) is nothing without her dances and that she’s made Madhuri
, all she can say is that she is very grateful to her for this.”

Both Saroj Khan and Sridevi were celebrated for their incredible contributions to Indian cinema. While Sridevi captivated audiences with her versatile acting, Saroj Khan breathed life into songs with her unforgettable dance choreography.
