Hansal Mehta establishes production house to produce movies
Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal have formed a production house under the banner of True Story Films in startegic partnership with producers Vinod Bhanushali and Parag Sanghvi to back multiple films and OTT projects.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta on Tuesday launched his production house “True Story Films”with producer Sahil Saigal. The banner was announced with a strategic partnership that involves Vinod Bhanushali’s Bhanushali Studios Ltd and Parag Sanghvi buying stakes in the company.
The collaboration will focus on producing feature films and web series across genres with the company aiming to create a slate of projects collectively valued at approximately ₹500 crores.
While Mehta will now embark as a producer and director under the banner, Saigal who produced the filmmaker’s last two films, Faraaz and
The Buckingham Murders will join him in driving the business operations and management of the company.
Mehta, acknowledged acclaimed titles like Shahid Aligarh Scam 1992 and Scoop 2023 articulated that True Story Films is the “realisation of a dream” to create compelling personal stories and work with diverse storytellers.
In statement he went on to added that he is driven by narratives that challenge the status quo, provoke conversations, challenge cinematic conventions and entertain at the deepest level.
Vinod Bhanushali, Chairman and Managing Director of Bhanushali Studios Ltd, lauded Mehta’s “visionary approach” to filmmaking and said, “By partnering with his company, he aims to foster a long-term collaborative space where extraordinary cinema thrives, ensuring they deliver unforgettable experiences to the audience.
Parag Sanghvi added that “Hansal’s unique ability to craft compelling, socially relevant stories has always impressed him. He believe deeply in his vision, and thrilled to support a company that’s dedicated to creating films and web shows that entertain, inspire, and challenge audiences.”
The slate of True Story Films includes a mix of feature films for theatrical release and original web shows for digital platforms, with releases beginning early 2026.
