News tricks from PM’s office that after his return from two-day visit to Mauritius as the Chief Guest at Mauritius’ National Day for the second time, an honour he first received in 2015, PM Modi will be visiting Sri Lanka early April.

Amidst his visit, he held meetings with the leaders and interacted with the Indian community in Mauritius.

He offered prayers at the Ganga Talao in Mauritius and mixed the sacred waters of the Ganges, brought from the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, into the Ganga Talao

PM Modiri Lanka will finalise agreements, strengthening bilateral cooperation and signing new memoranda of understandings

According to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath made the statement while responding to a question on budget allocation debate in the Parliament Colombo.
“they have maintained a close relationship with their neighbour India. Our first diplomatic visit was to India, where we reached several agreements on bilateral cooperation,”
With China out, Indian firm to build Sri Lanka power project

As per Herath several new memorandam of understandings were signed in addition to the opening of the Sampur solar power
station.

In 2023, the state power entity Ceylon Electricity Board and India’s NTPC agreed to build a 135 MW solar power plant in Sampur town of eastern Trincomalee district.

According to Herath the National People’s Power (NPP) Government’s goodwill policy towards India has resulted in many benefits to the island nation, including several ongoing Indian projects.

Adding, they will remain neutral in their foreign policy sans taking any sides while working to maintain national interest

This will be PM Modi’s fourth visit to the island nation since 2015.
