In the lead up to PM Modi’s visit, Maldives has announced Bollywood’s renowned actress Katrina Kaif as global tourism ambassador.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, 10 June, on social media.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) feel euphoric to have Kaif, a prominent face in the Indian film industry, as the Global Brand Ambassador for the Maldives.
The collaboration came amid a major turnaround in ties since January 2024, when India-Maldives relations turned sour. Kaif’s appointment has been announced right on the heels of Visit Maldives’ special Summer Sale Campaign, designed to entice more travellers to discover the natural beauty, vibrant marine life, and exclusive luxurious experiences that the Maldives offers.
