Reportedly, the Indian government, in coordination with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, formally submitted the city’s candidature to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at organisation headquarters Lausanne in Switzerland.
A high-level delegation, led by Gujarat sports minister Harsh Sanghavi, and IOA president PT Usha, senior officials from the IOA as well as from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, was on a visit to Lausanne, where they had a “fruitful meeting” with the IOC officials.
As per press release from the Indian Delegation, the discussions provided a vital platform for the Indian delegation to voice their vision for hosting a future Olympic Games in Ahmedabad.
In chorus, they gained invaluable insights from the IOC concerning the requirements for the Olympic Games and its ambitions for the future of the Olympic Movement.
The city was selected after extensive evaluation of its infrastructure, connectivity, climate and ability to host an event of such magnitude.
