Janhvi Kapoor opens up on her character in “Param Sundari”
Janhvi Kapoor, for the last few days, has been busy with promotion of her upcoming film “Param Sundari”.
Following drop of the trailer of the film, the actor’s accent and portrayal have earned criticism from a number of performers and viewers from Kerala. Malayalam actor-singer Pavithra Menon and content creator Steffi lambasted the casting of Janhvi in the film. Amid this backlash, Janhvi has now clarified the background of her character. Her portrayal of a Malayali girl in “Param Sundari” receives a thumbs down in Kerala.
In the midst of the media interaction,the interaction, which also had Sidharth Malhotra and producer Dinesh Vijan, when Janhvi was quizzed what drew her to the film, she said, she was at a point in her life where she herself, more than an actress, but as a member of the audience, was dying for just a rom-com.
A light-hearted movie where you have a smile on your face the entire time you are watching. Here was a story that gave her the chance to go towards her roots.”
‘she is also a huge fan of Malayalam cinema’.
She added, neither she nor her mother are Malayalis. But her character in the filming this is actually half-Tamilian and half-Malayali. She has always been very much interested in that terrain and that culture, and also a huge fan of Malayalam cinema as well. So yeah, she thinks it was just fun, interesting story, and she is so happy and grateful that she could be a part of it.
“Param Sundari” revolves around the cross-cultural romance amid the two leads, one from Delhi and the other from Kerala. Besides Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi, the film also features Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya in pivotal roles. The Tushar Jalota’s directorial releases theatrically on August 29.
