Former Video Jockey and actor Ranvir Shorey recently opened up on rejecting director Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ . He wasn’t neither satisfied with his role nor the payment from the production house. He also recalled saying “yes” to ‘Tiger 3’ regardless not liking his character.
Ranvir, over an interview recalled that YRF offered him Tiger and Tiger 2 as well. But, the issue was that the role was smaller than the prequel. This was despite Yash Chopra and Salim Khan appreciating his work in the first film.” He went on to add that when he received the script for the second film, he noticed his role was smaller than what he had done in the previous film, and so was hisbfees. He was like: ‘Why is he doing this?’ his logic was that if his role is being liked then his fees should increase and even his screen time.’ ‘This is all they can offer.’ After that, he turned it down.
While detailing on his decison to act in ‘Tiger 3’, the actor said, “When the time came to make Tiger 3, actor Girish Karnad passed away. So after him, he was the only one left from Tiger’s original team. This time they approached him again, but with similar issue. Hr was like: ‘You are asking him to return just to kill his character?’ They said: ‘Yes.’ This angered him.”
He took up the role in anger: ‘ok he will come just to kill his character. If this is what they have reduced his character to, then let him die’ shared the Khosla Ka Ghosla star
He added, “This time they offered him decent money. It was not great, but a decent amount. He solely went to kill his character in the film. His death reminded him of the ending of the first film.”
‘Tiger 3’ featured actors Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi in key roles. The film was a part of YRF Spy Universe. Actor Hrithik Roshan’s ‘War 2’ from the same universe opened to mixed reviews.
‘Alpha’, featuring actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, is YRF’s next espionage-thriller, scheduled to release in December 2025.
