AR Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Shaan to
unite in homage to Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Sahab
The year January 2026 will see an evening steeped in reverence and melody for music lovers as AR Rahman Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan geat up to share the stage for the first time, for a special tribute concert for Haazri, to be held on the death anniversary of their late guru, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
AR Rahman, curating the evening, says, he feels much excited to perform at Haazri for two consecutive years (This year Rahman performed solo). This time around, he will curate a very special set in honour and remembrance of our legendary Ustad. He really looks forward to take the stage along with Ustad ji’s co-students Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan.
For Hariharan, the evening ensures both passion and poignancy. “Music aficionados can expect a never-seen-before act, as there will be a lot of energy and emotions on stage,” he shares.
Shaan admits he feels, “excited, yet nervous.” He explains, “AR Rahman is creating something really special with guru ji’s songs and his bandishes. He’s a little nervous because it’s not his genre of music, but will give it his best.”
For Sonu Nigam, the concert is innermost personal as “their guru, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Sahab, lives inside them forever. He always feels Guru’s presence around him. He left a family for him in the form of his children and his students. Performing together for Haazri is going to be a very emotional experience for Sonu Nigam.
With four of India’s most celebrated voices uniting in homage, Haaziri promises not just music, but a heartfelt celebration of a guru whose legacy continues to resonate.
