He took up odd jobs, finally working as a carpenter, and soon found himself caught up with street gangs in the Sion-Koliwada area, a place known then for gang rivalries. He turned a “gangster”.

But then, it was a twist of fate that turned things around. One day, amidst a street fight, Veeru caught the eye of veteran action director Ravi Khanna. From there, Veeru gradually made his mark in the industry and emerged as a much-sought-after action director in Bollywood, choreographing stunts for numerous hit films in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
