93rd Indian Air Force Day: Miss Universe-actress Lara Dutta expresses pride towards brave pilots
With Air Force roots and her note for bravehearts is for sure to move one teary-eyed.
As the world commemorates the 93rd Indian Air Force Day, a former Miss Universe, actress, and proud daughter of the Indian Air Force Lara Dutta expresses her pride towards the brave pilots.
Even as her family took to the skies, Lara took to the stage. Crowned Miss Universe on May 12, 2000, in Nicosia, Cyprus, she made the nation proud with her poise and intelligence.
By 2003, she made her silver screen debut in Andaaz, featuring Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, and never looked back.
Her grandfather, Chandra Kishore Dutt, was a pilot who once flew with the British Overseas Airways Corporation (later British Airways). This was the beginning of a proud flying legacy that would span three generations.
Lara’s father, Wing Commander LK Dutt (Retd.), also donned the distinguished blues of the Indian Air Force.
The young Wing Commander displayed indomitable courage in the 1965 and 1971 wars and received the Bar to the Gallantry Award for bravery. He breathed his last at 84.
Lara’s sister is Squadron Leader Cheryl Dutt. A very image of strength and determination, she’s one of the first female helicopter pilots in the Indian Air Force.
Posting a striking vintage photo on Instagram, she also pens a heartfelt and touching tribute on the occasion of Indian Air Force Day. She writes, “She grew up in a family of aviators…”
Amidst saluting the brave soldiers who protect our country’s skies, she writes, “Flying is in our blood. She has always been identified as a child of the armed forces. On this 93rd Air Force Day, she salutes all the brave soldiers who protect our country’s skies and are dedicated to serving the nation.
Celebrated every year on October 8, Indian Air Force Day is celebrated to honour the brave pilots for their humanitarian assistance and for conducting vital rescue operations during natural disasters.
On Indian Air Force Day, they also perform stunning aerial stunts, parades, flypasts, and display modern fighter jets.
Lara will soon be seen in the next chapter of the Welcome franchise, Welcome to the Jungle. The film brings together an ensemble cast of talented actors including Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Aftab Shivdasani, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and more.
