Legendary actor Dharmendra has left for the ‘immortal” world passed at 89, just
before his 90th birthday on 8 December. His career spanned over six decades, featuring over 300 films and winning for him a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. Dharmendra’s posthumous film is Ikkis.

Reportedly, earlier this month, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, but was later discharged for further treatment at home after doctors advised close monitoring. His passing leaves behind an unparalleled legacy in Indian cinema. Following the heartbreaking news, several videos and pictures have been circulating online, and one of them features his last birthday celebration.

His last birthday celebration was with his family members on
December 8, 2024, Hema Malini shares two picture and described the day as one of celebration. Wishing Dharmendra a very happy birthday and calling him “the man of her dreams.” She wrote: she has held his heart just as he has held hers ever since they first met years ago. Looking back at their journey together through both good and difficult times, she expressed gratitude for their unwavering love. Hema added that she looks forward to being charmed by him for many more years and prayed for his good health and lifelong happiness.

Another pictures going viral are from 2023, when Hema Malini shared a series of photos from Dharmendra’s 88th birthday celebration on X (formerly Twitter). The veteran actress was seen planting a kiss on Dharmendra’s cheek in one of the images, while daughters Ahana and Esha also joined in the celebration.

Sharing the peeks at that time around, he captioned them,
“Taken today.” 0n his 88th birthday. Dharmendra celebrated his 89th birthday with his fans and elder son Sunny Deol, cutting a massive cake brought by one of his fan clubs. Truly, Dharmendra’s presence has always been no less than a celebration.debuting ⁶
Debuting in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere, he rose to fame with hits such as Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and Sholay. Acknowledged for his striking screen presence and versatile performances, he earned the title
“He-Man of Bollywood.” Over the years, he appeared in over 300 films, seamlessly transitioning between action, drama, and comedy, endearing himself to multiple generations of audiences.

Even in his later years, Dharmendra remained active in cinema. He shared the screen with his sons in Apne relessed in 2007 and made appearances in films such as Yamla Pagla Deewana and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. His performance in the latter, particularly a romantic sequence with Shabana Azmi at age 86, drew wide attention and praise.

Earlier on November 24, makers dropped the poster featuring Dharmendra. Featuring Agastya Nanda in the lead role, the film hits cinema halls on December 25. This war drama is based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, where he plays the role of the hero’s father,
M.L. Khetarpal.
