@narendramodi ji, the Union Cabinet’s approval today for the expansion of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM 2.0) is a historic decision that will take rural drinking water supply in Uttar Pradesh and across the entire country to new heights.
Under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ program in Uttar Pradesh, against the target of 2 crore 67 lakh families, tap connections have now been provided to 2 crore 43 lakh (90.93%) rural families so far.
In this nationwide expansion, a new digital framework ‘Sujalam Bharat’ will now be established, enabling precise mapping of the entire drinking water system from source to tap. In addition, through campaigns like ‘Jal Arpan’ and ‘Jal Utsav’, Gram Panchayats will emerge as key service delivery centers, and community participation in water conservation will gain a new direction.
This decision will not only accelerate regional health and self-reliance but will also empower rural India further, fulfilling the resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’.
