Uddhav Thackeray was showered praise from Devendra Fadnavis, while Eknath Shinde offered a mixed tone of well-wishes and a political dig.
Devendra Fadnavis lauded Thackeray’s artistic nature, stating that his “original temperament is measured and maintaining relations” rather than that of a typical politician. He praised Thackeray’s sensitivity and noted their long-standing friendship, saying, “he will not say it is not there now,” regardless political differences.
While formally wishing Thackeray a healthy and long life, Shinde, who led the 2022 rebellion, made a veiled swipe by emphasizing that Neelam Gorhe (present during the session) was not “born with a silver spoon,” drawing a contrast with Thackeray.
Thackeray retorted to the, praising their political maneuvering, saying: “If you knew me so well [as Fadnavis stated], then why did you hold someone else’s hand [referring to the 2022 split]?”. He also made a cryptic comment about “bulls being slaughtered for selfish reasons,” believed to be a reference to controversies surrounding Shinde’s camp.
Following the proceedings, Thackeray met with Fadnavis to discuss grievances regarding development funds for MLA constituencies.
The event was marked by “friendly fire” and “pointed poetic exchanges”.
