Veteran actress Rani Mukerji will be conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) by Australia’s La Trobe University. The prestigious degree recognizes her nearly three-decade career in Indian cinema and her humanitarian work. The official ceremony will take place on August 14, 2026, at Federation Square in Melbourne during the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
The university and festival officials highlighted Mukerji’s ability to blend artistic excellence with storytelling that drives social change and advocates for women and marginalized communities.
