Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has publicly alleged a massive financial scam at the famous and sacred Siddhivinayak Temple, claiming that approximately
₹18 crore in devotee donations was being “siphoned off” annually.
Amidst his speech at an event, Thackeray cited a letter written by a temple trustee to authorities revealing that weekly collections drastically jumped from under
₹50 lakh to ₹1.5 crore immediately following the arrest of nine employees.
Although, Siddhivinayak Temple Trust Chairman Sada Sarvankar confirmed the arrests and evolving legal action, he clarified that the recent surge in temple income from ₹114 crore to ₹182 crore is a result of overall administrative improvements implemented by the trust rather than the eradication of theft alone.
