The fraudulent operation relies on cloned media websites and fabricated breaking news templates to capture public attention. These fake articles falsely claim that a live television broadcast was abruptly shut down by authorities after the actor mentioned a software program called “Snap Avonex AI.” Security analysts have confirmed that the entire narrative is a complex social engineering scheme designed to bypass traditional internet filters and spread rapidly across social media platforms.
The scam operates by redirecting unsuspecting users to malicious, high-risk phishing portals designed to steal banking credentials, credit card details, and personal identification data. Tech experts emphasize that the video clips circulating online are highly sophisticated AI deepfakes that manipulate real interview footage to alter the actor’s voice and mouth movements.
National cybersecurity agencies have issued an urgent advisory instructing the public to disregard these advertisements.
Users are heavily cautioned against downloading any files or providing sensitive financial information to unverified third-party links connected to this hoax.
