Maharashtra mandates food safety licensesd registrations for large-scale Bhandara Mahaprasad events.

The recent directive by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandates that all organizers of large-scale community food distributions—such as Bhandara and Mahaprasad must secure a temporary food safety registration or licence. Organizers can apply via the online FoSCoS portal for a baseline fee of ₹100.

The primary objective is to enforce strict hygiene and food safety standards to prevent mass food poisoning during public and religious gatherings. Failure to register can lead to immediate legal action and the filing of criminal cases against event organizers.
