Prime Minister Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian convened for a bilateral meeting today on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

This high-level engagement marks the first face-to-face meeting amid the two leaders since the outbreak of the conflict in West Asia earlier this year. Building upon prior telephone consultations and ongoing diplomatic exchanges, the leaders will review the full spectrum of bilateral ties, with specific focus on energy security, bilateral trade, regional connectivity, and de-escalation efforts in West Asia.

The meeting underscored both nations’ shared commitment to regional stability, the safety of maritime trade routes, and the continuation of strategic dialogue during critical geopolitical developments.
